Supporting sports gender equity through collaboration with Women Sport Australia

At SPORTENG, we believe that sports should be a level playing field for everyone, regardless of gender. That's why we're proud to announce our corporate membership with Women Sport Australia (WSA) and our commitment to their Gender Equity in Sport Pledge.

Since its establishment in 2005, Women Sport Australia has been at the forefront of advocating for gender equity in sports and recreation, both on and off the field. Over the years, they've worked tirelessly to improve opportunities for girls and women in sports across Australia and beyond. However, despite the progress made, there's still much work to be done to achieve true equality.

The Gender Equity in Sport Pledge is a powerful initiative that signifies a collective commitment to creating equity for girls and women in sports. By taking this pledge, we at SPORTENG are affirming our dedication to supporting WSA's mission and actively working towards a future where gender equity is not just a goal but a reality.

But what exactly does Women Sport Australia stand for, and what is their vision?

WSA's purpose is clear: to achieve equity for women and girls in sports until it becomes the norm rather than the exception. They aim to influence systemic and cultural change in Australian sports through advocacy, amplification, and affirmative action.

WSA aims to achieve equitable access, visibility, and fair treatment for women and girls in all aspects and levels of sports. They employ various tactics to accomplish this:

  • Advocacy, Round Tables & Research: WSA engages with decision-makers, organizes round table discussions, and conducts research to influence change effectively.
  • Programs & Events: they host events like the Women In Sport Photo Action Awards (WISPAA) and the Women In Sport Brunch to provide recognition, networking opportunities, and support for women in sports.
  • Profile & Voice: WSA utilises its peak body status to address key issues concerning women and girls in sports through media commentary and government engagement.

At SPORTENG, we're thrilled to collaborate with Women Sport Australia in their efforts to promote gender equity in sports. Together, we're committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable sporting landscape where every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive.
