Post-flood recovery strategy at the Queensland Tennis Centre

Hosting the United Cup International tournament, and having been selected as a venue for the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Queensland Tennis Centre in Brisbane had to look and perform its best after the flood events of 2022.

The Centre underwent post-flood recovery works to provide an elite-level court for international events on the Pat Rafter Arena centre court and a number of the surrounding en-tout-cas clay courts and natural turf courts.

Post-flood recovery strategy at the Queensland Tennis Centre

Planned to be the centre of major sports events in the coming months/years through the United Cup International tournament and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, SPORTENG worked with the Queensland Tennis Centre on a post-flood recovery plan.

Part of the plan was for the Pat Rater Arena to undergo a technical assessment and post-flood recovery rectification of its various courts. SPORTENG attended the site for a final inspection of the acrylic coat and to help identify any defects for rectification before handing the court over to the client for competition-level events and training.

SPORTENG, a strong partner for tennis court projects

Strong of our previous experience on international-level tennis courts and our great history with the Queensland Tennis Centre gave our client reassurance in working with us again.

SPORTENG was appointed to provide a technical assessment and recommendations for post-flood recovery of the courts. We also undertook witness inspections of the works during the construction phase.

The rebuild provided a high-quality outcome for the upcoming international events that will soon be hosted on the courts.

The final inspection with Stadiums Queensland and Tennis Queensland had positive feedback on the result and how good the final surface coat looked.
